PECAA Community Helps Raise $116,000 in 2018 for Children’s Vision Projects
We are pleased to announce that, as part of the Growing Through Giving Program, Member, Zeiss and PECAA contributions helped raise $116,000 in 2018 for PECAA’s charity of choice, Optometry Giving Sight!
That is the equivalent of providing vision care access to over 23,000 children in underserved countries.
As part of the program, Member practices donate a percentage of their IncentivEYES® rebate to support child eye health programs around the world.
According to Optometry Giving Sight’s Impact Report, 2018 proved successful for launching eye health programs for children in Vietnam, where over three million kids are currently in need of glasses. Optometry Giving Sight was able to support health promotion activities in schools, vision centers and outreach programs.
2018 also saw the opening of Haiti’s first School of Optometry, with 19 pioneer students starting their five-year degree. Haiti has the highest level of blindness with over 14 million currently vision impaired. This inaugural course will help create a sustainable way to address the demand for eye care services in Haiti.
In September, Optometry Giving Sight also helped bring much-needed eye care services to over 20,000 Tanzanians and trained teachers in 14 schools to build the local vision screening capacity.

Sign up to donate 5% or 10% of each of your 2019 IncentiveEYES® rebate checks (for the average PECAA Member, this is roughly $100 per quarter)
PECAA and Premier vendor partner ZEISS have agreed to combine efforts to match the donations of the first 150 Member practices to sign up for the program.
