Event Summary
PECAA is pleased to announce its next COPE virtual education event: What’s So Special About Myopia Management?. Taking place on Sunday, February 25th, 11:00 AM – 5:45 PM ET, this event will provide six (6) hours of COPE-accredited clinical continuing education to optometrists across the country and will be presented in a synchronous, virtual Zoom webinar format. In accordance with current COPE/ARBO guidelines, there are no testing requirements for synchronous virtual formatted courses to count as COPE approved CE credits.
Each PECAA education event provides impactful instruction on a targeted area relevant to contemporary eye care practice. The February 25th event will explore the subject of Myopia Management and why it’s so prevalent in our industry today. Attendees will expand their knowledge on not only identifying and diagnosing myopia, but also how to navigate, treat, and prevent future negative implications for the patient. These lectures will uncover how to best communicate with patients and collaborate with existing treatment options to improve the patient’s overall success.
What’s So Special About Myopia Management? is open to all optometrists nationwide, including PECAA Max members, HEA Advantage members and non-members. We look forward to welcoming you to this event.

In this course, attendees will learn about the latest treatments for myopia management and which treatment is best suited for each patient. Furthermore, attendees will also learn how to communicate with parents to help them understand the importance of myopia management. Lastly, attendees will learn tips on how to be successful with myopia management in a retail setting.

Description: In this course we battle it out. I will provide for you the latest research and information and show you how to apply it into practice. We will review each treatment option of myopia management, the most current data available and how that impacts our decision-making process when prescribing in office. This course will review the most current data and research on axial length acquisition, validity of instruments, purpose of use, and the pros and cons to implementation. How to calculate the expected axial length for your patient and how to incorporate the data in your decision-making process.

Description: The 1-hour CE course will discuss contact lenses for the control of myopic progression. Lens selection, design, and troubleshooting will be discussed. Utilization of technology for monitoring myopic progression and lens fitting will be included in the lecture. A clinical protocol for initial fitting and ongoing patient monitoring will be discussed for each lens modality.
