The 8-week program begins Tuesday, September 15, 2026, and will conclude Tuesday, November 3. Each week, attendees will meet Tuesdays at 1:00 pm PT/4:00 pm ET for a 1-hour live webinar.
The Optometric Management Certification Course (OPTMC) is accredited by the Accreditation by the Higher Education Committee (AHEC). OPTMC is a unique 8-week program designed to provide ODs/MDs, opticians, optical staff and optical managers with the skills necessary to manage a successful and profitable optical. The program focuses on frame management, assortment management and building custom tools to take your optical to the next level.
Once registrants complete the program, a comprehensive exam must be passed to ensure the skills required to receive the designation of ‘Certified Optical Manager’ have been attained.

Joel got his start in Optics with Pearle Vision back in 2004. Since then he has worked as an optical manager, optical trainer, district manager, and a vendor rep for some of the largest organizations in the industry. Joel has a passion for the industry, especially optical, where he has spent his entire career focusing on training and developing others, sales, merchandising, staffing, and leadership. In his spare time, Joel enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 sons. He also enjoys traveling, swimming, movies, fishing, sports, TV, music, and stand-up comedy.
