Registration is now open for the 2022 PECAA + OPN Symposium on Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM CST in Houston, TX!

This one-day free event is open to both doctors and staff team, and offers business and medical focused training exclusively for PECAA + OPN Members.

Join us for a day to learn from an amazing lineup of powerful speakers on topics that will help improve efficiency & profitability within your practice. For our Doctor Track, courses this year will cover topics including leadership, myopia management, digital marketing, IPL therapy, and more!

For our Staff Team Track, we are thrilled to offer a great lineup of workshops that range from selling to frame adjusting. Shaun Damico

Shaun Damico is an inspired public speaker, who has a unique passion for the eye care industry, leadership, culture, and being a force for change. As a 9/11 Air Force Veteran, Shaun brings unique and proven methods to implementing change to dramatically improve business as well as patient experiences. Shaun is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Heart of Texas Eye Institute in Dripping Springs, TX and has over 15 years of experience in the eye care industry performing every single position within a practice setting in both optometry and ophthalmology. His experiences span the range of clinic roles, administrative & leadership roles, and surgery & procedure roles. Shaun also has nearly five years of service dedicated to eye care specific consulting on both business management and patient experience alike across North America in over a hundred different practice locations.

Eric Hammond, OD

Dr. Eric Hammond was born and raised in Austin, Texas. He is a second-generation optometrist practicing with his mother, Dr. Laurie Sorrenson, and never fails to make her proud. Dr. Hammond graduated from Westwood High School before attending Texas State University in San Marcos, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After completing his bachelors, he went on to complete his Doctorate at the University of Houston College of Optometry. Dr. Hammond is presently licensed as a Therapeutic Optometrist and as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. He is a member of the Texas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.

Sharon Jutila​​​​​

Sharon Jutila is an attorney and human resources expert with over fifteen years’ experience providing advice to a wide range of businesses. She is a well-respected trainer and speaker on human resource and employment compliance issues having presented at over a hundred conferences. Over the span of her career, Sharon has assisted dozens of clients, spanning the range from high-tech semiconductor companies to roofing and stucco companies. After a successful law career, she joined one of her clients to create its human resources department from the ground up. Since that time, she has continued to work in the human resources industry in both an employee and consultant role.

 

Nathan Lighthizer, OD​​​​​

Dr. Nathan Lighthizer is an Associate Professor and the Associate Dean for the NSU Oklahoma College of Optometry. He also is the Director of the Continuing Medical Education Program for the College of Optometry, and the Chief of the Specialty Care Clinics. His research and teaching interests include Ocular Disease, Ophthalmic Procedures including office-based surgical procedures and laser procedures, and electrodiagnostics.

 

Trudi Charest

Trudi Charest is the Co-Founder of Marketing4ecps, a digital marketing agency focused on building digital advertising for Optometrists, Opticians & Ophthalmologists. Trudi is well known for designing, developing and facilitating training and marketing programs to Eye Care professionals across North America. Trudi is a Licensed Optician with over 25 years of extensive eyecare experience. She also holds a Human Resource Management certificate from the University of Calgary. Her experience includes corporate training in retail optical, territory management for Bausch & Lomb, Clinical Consulting with Optos and VP of Marketing & Training for Eye Recommend.

Shelby Wade​​​​​

​​​​​​Shelby Wade is PECAA’s Marketing Business Advisor and has focused on developing strategic marketing plans and field marketing initiatives that drive results throughout her career. Shelby works closely with PECAA Members to create strong marketing plans for their practice to help boost their profitability, attract new patients and improve their bottom line.

 

 

Robert Bell

​​​​Robert Bell is the Creator and Director of Storytelling for EyeCoach, a strategic sales company, where he developed a revolutionary sales training program for eye care professionals throughout the United States and Canada. In addition, Robert Bell has also written over 75 articles on selling techniques as a Featured Columnist for both 20/20 Magazine and, currently, for lnvision Magazine, and is one of the most widely read columnists in the eye care industry.

 

 

Joy Gibb, ABOC

Joy L. Gibb, ABOC began her optical career in 1986. She managed an independent retail opticianry in Bountiful, Utah for over ten years before opening her own business, Eyes of Joy Mobile Optical Service and is currently the practice manager for Daynes Eye and Lasik in Bountiful, Utah. Joy also consults practices about their dispensaries and improving customer service and sales. Patients often seek her help with the difficult to fit prescription, progressive lenses, and children’s eyewear. Joy has participated in the writing of several industry guides and publications and has also served as a member of the Better Vision Institute.
