Preparing for New Rules that Prevent Information Blocking and Enable Payer Access to All of Your Clinical Data
Date & Time: Tuesday, June 28, 2022 | 9:00am — 10:00am PT
Presented by: James E. Grue, OD, Director of Analytics and Healthcare Reform Consultant at Healthcare Registries, LLC
Course Description:
This webinar will discuss how PECAA is supporting a number of initiatives started by ASOA (American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators). These are initiatives that will help both Optometrists and Ophthalmologists prepare for the biggest single transformation of healthcare in the history of the country. In order to meet the new information blocking rules and enforcement guidelines put in place by the 21st Century Cures Act, after October 6, 2022 your EHR system has to make all of the information in your certified EHR available to any organization the patients authorizes to have the information, any other provider involved in the care of the patient, and any payor that covers exams for your patients.
These changes will affect virtually every part of your practice, but there are two areas of immediate importance for which you should be preparing. The first is how you send the required post-op reports when you co-manage cataract surgery. The other is understanding the quality indicator analytics payers will be generating on your practice.
This webinar will help you understand what to expect and how you can take control of the data that you will soon be sharing with many other providers, organizations and payers that have never had access to your unfiltered patient information in the past.
