Why Glimpse Matters
By: Tyler Judkins, Business & Financial Advisor, PECAA

On the wall of my home, between the bathroom and the laundry room hangs one of those growth charts. You know, the kind that kids love. Well, parents tend to enjoy it as well. At a glance, I can see how much my kids have grown over a period of time. For example, I can see that my 3-year-old was 2’9” in February of 2016 and over the period of about 13 months, he grew 6 inches to 3’3”. My 10-year-old grew about 1.5” between November of 2016 and March of 2017. Why bother with measuring, marking, comparing? We all know that our kids grow. We know that they are taller now than they were two or three years ago.

The answer to this question goes without saying; as informal as it is, we all agree that it’s a good thing to measure progress. Your business should be viewed the same way.

Day in and day out, you and your optical staff enter data into your practice management software. Have you ever tried to extract this data with the intent of making use of it? It is not an easy task. It can be time consuming and you’re not always sure that you are capturing all the data that you need or want. Furthermore, if you want to compare, is this week’s data the same set of data that I pulled last week?

Glimpse has solved all of those problems for you. Without going into detail, suffice it to say that, with Glimpse, the backend work to pull all of your data and have it make sense is done for you.

Let’s talk about why Glimpse should matter to you. Simply put, we cannot improve what we do not measure. Why not take advantage of a program that provides:

In-depth analytics that help you recognize growth opportunities and future optometry trends
Monthly reports to help you identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT)
-The ability to track your workforce performance
-A method to design a challenge to increase your practice revenue
Benchmarks against your peers of like-size at a regional & national level
-Your practice metrics updated on a daily basis
Customer support that will respond to you within 1 hour

Need I say more? You went to school to treat patients and care for their needs. We have found that the most successful independent OD’s spend their time doing what they do best, which is treating patients, and leaving things like gathering data to those that do it best: Glimpse.

As previously announced, the monthly fees for Glimpse will be moving to $35/month per location as of March 1, 2018. PECAA’s long-standing belief in measuring practice performance has led us to invest over $1,000,000 in the SuccessTRACK program since its inception. While we consider SuccessTRACK/Glimpse to be a great success, it is no longer sustainable for PECAA alone to cover the ongoing and growing investment. Those of you who currently use Glimpse will understand that this minimal fee is well worth the invaluable data provided for your practice. PECAA will continue to cover a portion of your Glimpse fees – that is an $85/month savings.

If you are wondering what to do with your Glimpse data, worry no more! Your PECAA business advisors are here to help you understand what you need to pay attention to and why. Each practice is different and we are here to assist you.
