Portland, OR (October 1, 2014) – PECAA, a national Doctor Alliance Group for Independent Doctors, has announced the formation of a strategic partnership with Optometric Professional Network (OPN), a regional Doctor Alliance Group based in Houston, TX.
OPN made the decision earlier this year to partner with a larger national group to enhance the programs and services offered to its members. After interviewing several organizations, the OPN Board of Directors has endorsed a partnership with PECAA.
“We chose to partner with PECAA for a number of reasons,” said OPN Executive Director, Michael Friedberg, OD. “Foremost was their hands-on involvement in helping their Members grow and prosper. We appreciated the diversity of their programs and value the fact that PECAA truly stands behind its mission to promote and protect independent eye care. I have no doubt OPN made the right decision in partnering with PECAA.”
“We are honored to have the opportunity to partner with OPN,” says PECAA Founders, Bradley Smith, OD, Lance Anderson, OD and David Wolf, OD. “The alignment with OPN’s network of like-minded, progressive thinking doctors will allow us to fulfill our mission and continue providing new and innovative programs for the independent practitioner.”
PECAA membership currently reaches 43 states across the U.S. and expansion within the state of Texas will be important to the group’s long-term growth.
OPN Members now have access to PECAA’s complete portfolio of member services, including its vendor discount programs and the group’s exclusive IncentivEYES® Member Rebate Program. Other services include doctor and staff education, business analysis, production tracking software, billing and coding support, digital marketing and member networking events.
“The optometric industry is changing and our practices are being squeezed by third party vision plans, online retailers and increased competition,” said Friedberg. “There are many unknowns concerning the Affordable Care Act and the establishment of ACO’s across the country. Discounts alone are not going to be enough. We have to get smarter about the way we run our offices. We need better online education for our staff, we need business tools to help benchmark our revenues and expenses, we need guidance in exploiting the power of social media.”
PECAA also announces it has retained the services of Friedberg, OPN Executive Director and one of the founding Members of OPN.
To support the OPN membership in Texas, PECAA will be adding another Member Business Analyst to its National Practice Development Program in the coming weeks. The new hire will be based in Houston and will be available for personal, in-office financial consultation with OPN Members.
PECAA will be hosting five informational dinners for OPN Members in Texas during the month of October. Dinners are scheduled in the Houston area on October 13th, 14th and 15th, San Antonio on October 28th and Fort Worth on October 29th. These dinners are open to all current OPN doctors and staff members who want to learn more about PECAA, its programs and the benefits available to them through the partnership of the two groups.
